When I first got my Macbook, I was FASCINATED by the Photo Booth
application. I played on it for hours, as pathetic as that sounds.
Anyway, for another pastel study, I decided to draw myself
in four different ways on the same piece of paper.
Sort of an Andy Warhol-like piece.
My favorite is the black white and pink one, but I suspect
this is only because of my insane love for anything pink.

I had to work on the face on the bottom ALOT.
What I had done is class was way too rushed.
I think it came out pretty good in the end.
The top was a sketch for my sir lance a lot picture, which you can find
by scrolling down people!

These are faces from my first semester.
I worked them over a little to try to make them a little less scary.
But they still didn't turn out as natural as I'd like.
I will be working with pastels more this summer.
Faces too.

Thumbalina.
Prismacolor marker and pencil.
This is probably my favorite painting of mine.
It was my second semester, and in my Color Theory class, we started
off painting in greyscale in order to practice values before actual color.
The still life was excellent. The skeleton holding the jewels was just so fun
to draw and paint. I think the fun I had really shows in the picture.

Two New Pictures!!!
Well, technically they aren't so new, since the Gwen Stefani was
started in high school and the picture of me was started around 10 months
ago, but I never got around to finishing either until today.
There is only one good thing about all of this rain, that all there
is to do is sit inside and draw.

OH LOOK!
It's Princess Kittles sitting on the toilet seat of
my 70's style bathroom!
She's so adorable I looooooove herrrr.
Another self portrait from long ago.
I think I look slightly angry in this portrait, and maybe a little unhappy
or impatient at the time.
This one took me about 20 minutes.
In the next one, I will include a background.

These were two excercises from a book called
"Drawing on The Right Side of Your Brain"
The point of the book was to get you to be more creative by
letting go of the symbols we have memorized a children
and seeing an eye as a series of lines, angles, and tones rather
than the eye of childhood that we would use for mom, dad, and the dog.
The right brain is non verbal and irrational and very visual while the left brain is verbal and very rational and works best with words and numbers.
I drew both pictures upside down and then flipped them over and
these were the results.

Top: Bizarre Still life from Italy involving various
items in my bag and my foot.
Bottom: My espadrilles

I had posted these images a few months back but the color and lighting
was way off due to the artificial lighting in my house.
So I scanned them and now they are MUUUUCH better.

Just some still lifes, the top from high school, bottom about a year ago.
I just thought I should post them since I've been home SO often lately because
of the rain and I have been drawing an awful lot of chairs, ottomans,
flowers, and kitchen appliances.
Also, whatever's in the fruit bowl.
This is the original drawing of the magician I posted about a month back.
Much better quality then the other picture I posted of this same image.
It is SO much better to scan then take pictures.
Funny story behind this image.
I did this sketch in pencil along with the one
of the man in the boat with the parrot looking at
the island he was leaving for one of my projects,
using Robinson Crusoe's tale of a man who was stranded on an island
(ala Tom Hanks in "Castaway) as the subject matter.
I lost the images, drew them both again, lost them both again,
and ultimately had no sketches to hand
in for my final grade.
I did the painting though, so I happened to get a C in the class overall.
And they happened to be sitting in a folder in my basement with
all of my reference pictures (useless). Whateverrr.

These are both from high school and they are self portraits.
I dislike and like certain aspect of these pictures.
But I dislike and like certain aspects of myself.
So I suppose they work.
This summer, I will be doing more self portraits, just
to see how I've grown and developed since I left
those glass double doors at EMHS for the slightly heavier
ones of the D Building
of FIT.
Complementary colors from color theory.
Man I miss NYC.
Long Island is BOOOOOORINGGGG.

Turns out, all I had to do was save them as gif files instead of jpeg.
So here is the warm desert and cool forest, using five colors next
to each other on the color wheel.
Sir Lance a lot with his maiden, the Princess of course.
Awww.
The dress the model is wearing was actually worn by
Princess Diana. I have no idea how FIT
managed to snag it.
Just a fun fact.

Originally, I sketched Edgar Allen Poe only so I could practice vectoring on
Illustrator.
Incidentally, the vectoring came out like crap but I really
like the sketch.
I spilled coffee on his sleeve but I used Photoshop to take it out, you could probably
see that if you look up close though.
I suppose I could have pushed the eerie factor a wee bit.
Fair thee well Island of Broken Dreams.
Very little of the wonders here are as they seem.

This was my very first full sculpture.
Before this, we first did a relief, which is a sculpture that
is attached to a background. In my case, it was a
large ceramic block covered in clay. It was very hard for me to
grasp the concept of sculpture.
DO NOT SMOOZE THE CLAY
My Russian professor would tell us all.
EVERYTHING HAS PLANES.
ALSO, NO TALKINGS!
So with much help from Professor Boris and a Starbucks cup to
save time, my final project of a full figured lady
didn't turn out half bad.

If only the feets weren't cut off :(

OOOOOHHH THOSE BLIND CONTOUR DAYS!
I sincerely remember hating my teacher moving my easel practically behind me,
as he was getting very frustrating that I wouldn't stop glancing
at the pad.
The top one is an obvious looker.
But the bottom is what happens when I consciously have no idea what's going on.
More prisma and colored pencil from those high school mornings.
Frankly, they're the only thing I miss from high school.
And Mr. Strand, the best art teacher ever.
Cause we are the aqua teeeeens.
Make the homies say uhh.
Make the girlies wanna screeeeeeam!!!!

Have always had a little crush on Angelina Jolie.
Who hasn't?
EXPERIMENTING WITH CHIAROSCURO.
Super darks and lights people.
The blue gives it a nice calming feel.

GREEN PAPER :) THIS STUFF IS GRRREAT
So this is from...2 semesters ago i believe? F.I.T has great models
that really know how to do a good pose. I love all the darks and lights.
Gotta work on fabricsss!~
Colored pencil on green paper.
DUUUUUUUDE.
Another high school image.
Thumbalina. Need to work on the face this summer, make it realllllly good.
"Thumbs up" to the hand though, love those Prismas!!
This is an image from high school.
Not life drawing (yeah right) but it's done in Prismacolor
markers and colored pencils, which I LOVE
but they are just too expensive for me to purchase at the moment.
I love giraffes alot.
I really need a job.
Sigh.
Putting the little, adorable barbeque walrus into an environment was a slight challenge.
I mean I knew I wanted him at a barbeque because he was created from a manmade barbeque.
But the angle, the wood, those damn shorts!
I think that even though this painting was a challenge, it also helped me
learn how to use acrylics better and come closer to discovering my style.
Boy, does he look hungry!
This was the sketch for angst.
I don't know about you, but I spend an AWFUL LOT of time on the computer and NOTHING pisses me off
more then when my computer is being slow, dying, not connecting to a website, or just turns off on me all together.
Most of the time, I just want to throw it out the window (ok not most of the time, but a lot lately).
Just goes to show technology's not much better then us.
Computers have breakdowns and brainfarts too.
